Glaze day — Potters · The Makers
Today Master Odu glazes the bowls that were fired once already. You read the workshop notes for the day. Some lines are wrong or unsafe.
Your task
Tap the lines that are wrong or unsafe.
- A glaze is a thin coat that melts into a glassy layer in the kiln. It makes pots smoother, easier to clean and less porous. Glaze powders are handled only by trained adults, with masks, never at home.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
Potters wipe the glaze off the foot of each pot so it does not melt onto the kiln shelf and glue the pot in place.
