Warp and weft — Weavers · The Makers
Apprentice Ines sits at her first loom in the Weavers' Hall. The Makers of Our World game on MyLeoNes for ages 7–17; invented stories, crafts learned safely.
Your task
Sort each clue into Warp or Weft.
- Cloth is made of two sets of threads that cross at right angles. The warp is held tight, and the weft weaves through it.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
Looms look very different around the world, from simple frames held with a strap to large wooden floor looms, but all use warp and weft.
Weavers
The guild stories are invented, to learn from. Fire, heat, blades and tools are only for trained adults: learn these crafts with a trained adult, never at home. Nothing about you is collected; progress stays on this device.
