Building a pattern — Weavers · The Makers
The Midsummer Fair is near and Apprentice Ines wants to weave a scarf with stripes and diagonal lines. Help her choose. A plain weave goes over one, under one.
Your task
Pick the best choice at each step.
- Weavers build patterns with colour and with how the weft goes over and under the warp.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
A plain weave goes over one, under one. A twill goes over two or more, which makes diagonal ridges, as in many denim and wool cloths.
Weavers
The guild stories are invented, to learn from. Fire, heat, blades and tools are only for trained adults: learn these crafts with a trained adult, never at home. Nothing about you is collected; progress stays on this device.
