The cotton sign — Weavers · The Makers
The Thistle Mill museum has a new sign about cotton. Guide Mira asks you to read it with a sharp eye: some lines are not right.
Your task
Tap the lines that are wrong or unwise.
- Cotton fibres are the soft hairs that grow around the seeds of the cotton plant inside a pod called a boll. Growing cotton can need a lot of water, so using cloth for longer matters.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
Cotton is one of the most used fibres in the world. Fields watered mostly by rain, careful irrigation and long-lived clothes all reduce the water it costs.
Weavers
The guild stories are invented, to learn from. Fire, heat, blades and tools are only for trained adults: learn these crafts with a trained adult, never at home. Nothing about you is collected; progress stays on this device.
