The scrap heap — Smiths · The Makers
Behind the Emberhollow smithy lies a heap of scrap: an old bike frame, tin cans and a bent steel rod. Makers · MyLeoNes.
Your task
Pick the wisest answer at each step.
- Metal does not wear out when it is melted: iron, steel, copper and aluminium can be recycled again and again. Recycling aluminium uses only about five percent of the energy needed to make it from ore. A magnet sticks to iron and steel but not to aluminium or copper.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
Scrap yards, recycling bins and cans collected at home are today's version of Ferran's heap. Most of the steel and aluminium in new products already contains recycled metal.
Smiths
The guild stories are invented, to learn from. Fire, heat, blades and tools are only for trained adults: learn these crafts with a trained adult, never at home. Nothing about you is collected; progress stays on this device.
