The voice of a bell — Smiths · The Makers
The Emberhollow bell foundry has put up a sign for visitors. Master Rowan suspects the sign painter slipped, and asks you to check it.
Your task
Tap the lines that are wrong or unsafe.
- Bells are cast in bronze, mostly copper with some tin. A bell's note depends on its size, shape and thickness: big bells ring low, small bells ring high. Casting is done only by trained founders.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
Old bells still ring in towers around the world, some for several hundred years. Because bronze can be re-melted, a cracked bell can become a new one.
Smiths
The guild stories are invented, to learn from. Fire, heat, blades and tools are only for trained adults: learn these crafts with a trained adult, never at home. Nothing about you is collected; progress stays on this device.
