From ore to metal — Smiths · The Makers
Apprentice Ilka finds a heavy grey rock in the hills of Emberhollow. Help her follow the rock until it becomes metal. Makers · MyLeoNes.
Your task
Put the steps from rock to metal in order.
- Ore is rock that holds metal. Smelting means heating ore very strongly so the metal separates from the rock.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
In many places, people have smelted metal from ore for thousands of years.
