Hot glass looks cold — Glassmakers · The Makers
Visitors are coming to the invented Sandmere glass studio. Glassmaker Inês asks Leo to check the visitor rules before they're printed.
Your task
Tap the lines that are wrong or unsafe.
- Glass stops glowing long before it is cool. A piece can look normal and still be hot enough to burn badly. Glass also has to cool slowly in an annealing oven, or it may crack later.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
Glassblowing furnaces typically run at around 1,100 °C. Marinha Grande in Portugal has been a glassmaking centre since the 18th century.
Glassmakers
The guild stories are invented, to learn from. Fire, heat, blades and tools are only for trained adults: learn these crafts with a trained adult, never at home. Nothing about you is collected; progress stays on this device.
