From grain to loaf — Farmers · The Makers
The wheat at Green Acre is golden. Kofi wonders how those little grains become the bread on his table, and Farmer Wren gives him the steps in a jumble.
Your task
Put the journey from grain to loaf in order.
- Wheat is cut when the stalks are dry. The grains are then separated from the straw and husks by threshing and winnowing. Millstones or rollers crush them into flour. Yeast, a tiny living fungus, eats sugars in the dough and makes gas bubbles, so the dough rises.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score

- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
Bread wheat is one of the most widely grown crops on Earth. Buying bread from a nearby mill and bakery shortens the journey from field to table, and straw left over goes to animal bedding or back to the soil.

The guild stories are invented, to learn from. Fire, heat, blades and tools are only for trained adults: learn these crafts with a trained adult, never at home. Nothing about you is collected; progress stays on this device.
