Who needs the bees? — Farmers · The Makers
Bees are buzzing over Green Acre. Farmer Wren asks which of her crops depend on insects to make fruit and seeds, and which manage without them.
Your task
Sort each crop.
- Pollination moves pollen from flower to flower so seeds and fruit can form. Many fruits rely on bees and other insects. Grains like wheat and rice mostly pollinate themselves, and maize uses the wind.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
Some almond and apple growers rent beehives at blossom time so their trees are well pollinated.
