Joints and triangles — Carpenters · The Makers
A little stool in the workshop wobbles. The Makers of Our World game on MyLeoNes for ages 7–17; invented stories, crafts learned safely.
Your task
Pick the best idea at each step.
- In a mortise-and-tenon joint, a tongue of wood fits into a slot. A triangle cannot change shape without bending a side, so it stiffens frames.
- Invented guild stories to learn from. Never try fire, hot metal, glass, blades or power tools on your own: crafts like these are learned with a trained adult.
- Every craft came from many people in many places. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- Craft knowledge — You understood how this craft works.
- Making it well — You put the steps in a sensible order and used the right tools.
- Care for people & planet — You kept people safe and used materials wisely.
In real life
For thousands of years, in many places, builders have joined wood with carved joints and used triangles in roofs and bridges.
Carpenters
The guild stories are invented, to learn from. Fire, heat, blades and tools are only for trained adults: learn these crafts with a trained adult, never at home. Nothing about you is collected; progress stays on this device.
