What is trade?
Welcome to the Trading Post of Cedar Bay! Before you open the stall, check what you know about trade.
The barter problem
Pip has three fish and wants a warm hat. Olo the hatmaker loves hats but does not like fish at all.
Why money was invented
The elders of Cedar Bay tell the story of how their town found an easier way to trade. Put the story in order.
Goods or services?
The Trading Post has two counters. One is for things you can hold, the other for help people give each other.
Bread for shoes
Bea bakes good bread but makes poor shoes. Cal makes fine shoes but burns his bread.
Worth is different for everyone
It is Saturday at the Trading Post and many swaps are happening. Not every line is right.
Gift or trade?
At Cedar Bay, people hand things to each other all day. Some moments are gifts and some are trades.
The school swap day
Class 4B holds a swap day where kids trade things they no longer need, and even small helps. Tess wants to swap well and fairly.
