Rainbow — a bridge of colours
A rainbow is a big bridge of colours in the sky. It comes when the sun shines and it rains at the same time.
Circles — round and rolly
A circle is round all the way around. It has no corners and no straight bits.
Squares — four sides the same
A square has four straight sides. All four sides are exactly the same.
Triangles — three pointy sides
A triangle has three straight sides. It has three pointy corners too.
Stars — pointy and shiny
A star shape has points that stick out all around. Most of the stars we draw have five.
Red — warm and bright
Red is a warm, bright colour. It jumps out and says hello.
Orange — sunny and juicy
Orange is red and yellow mixed together. It looks warm and cheerful.
Yellow — the colour of sunshine
Yellow is the brightest, happiest colour. It is the colour of the sun.
Green — the colour of growing
Green is the colour of grass and leaves. It is everywhere outside.
Blue — sky and sea
Blue is the colour of the sky and the sea. It feels cool and calm.
Purple — red and blue together
Purple is red and blue mixed together. It looks soft and a little magical.
Pink — soft and sweet
Pink is red with lots of white mixed in. It looks soft and sweet.
Brown — earth and chocolate
Brown is the colour of soil, wood and chocolate. It feels warm and cosy.
Black — dark like the night
Black is the darkest colour of all. It is the colour of the night sky.
White — clean like snow
White is the brightest, cleanest colour. It is the colour of snow and clouds.
Grey — clouds and rainy days
Grey is black and white mixed together. It is the colour of a cloudy day.
Gold — shiny like treasure
Gold is a shiny, sparkly colour like treasure. It looks warm and special.
Silver — shiny like the moon
Silver is a shiny, cool colour like a mirror. It sparkles like the moon.
Turquoise — blue and green together
Turquoise is blue and green mixed together. It looks like warm sea water.
Sky Blue — a soft light blue
Sky blue is a soft, light blue. It is the colour of the sky on a sunny day.
Leaf Green — the green of leaves
Leaf green is a bright, fresh green. It is the colour of new leaves.
Sunny Yellow — the brightest yellow
Sunny yellow is a warm, bright yellow. It glows like the sunshine.
Mixing Colours — make new colours!
Red, yellow and blue are the three main colours. Mix them and brand new colours appear!
Warm Colours — red, orange and yellow
Warm colours are red, orange and yellow. They remind us of fire and the sun.
Cool Colours — blue, green and purple
Cool colours are blue, green and purple. They remind us of water and ice.
