Designing for different people
Accessibility means removing barriers that make a device or program hard to use. An app might let you hear text, enlarge letters, use a keyboard instead of a mouse, or see strong colour contrast. Inclusive design plans for different needs from the beginning, not as an afterthought.
Why accessibility is needed
People do not all see, hear, move, read, or learn in the same way. If a design assumes one kind of user, some people are shut out of a tool that others can use easily. Accessibility grew from the need for fair access, and it often helps everyone, not only disabled users.
Making a button easier to use
Imagine a green button labelled only with a tiny symbol. First, give it a clear word such as “Save”. Next, make the letters large enough and use strong contrast. Then let someone reach it with the keyboard and let a screen reader announce the label. Each change removes a different barrier.
One way cannot suit everyone
A common mistake is to think that one accessibility feature fixes everything. Large text may help someone with weak sight but not someone who cannot use a mouse. Also, colour alone may be hard to distinguish. Offer more than one clear way to understand and control the program.
Where inclusive design appears
You meet these choices in phones, websites, games, ticket machines, and school tools. Captions help in a noisy room, keyboard control helps when a mouse is awkward, and clear labels help anyone in a hurry. Good design gives people useful choices instead of forcing one route.
