Tulip fever, 1637 — Time Machine · Investopia
The time machine lands in the Dutch Republic in the 1630s, when the price of some tulip bulbs shot up and then crashed. Put the story in order.
Your task
Put the events in order.
- A bubble is when prices rise far above what something is worth because people expect to sell to someone else for more.
- Educational simulation with fictional LeoCoins — not financial advice and no buy or sell recommendation.
- Island companies in this mission are imaginary and their numbers are for practice. Prices in the game are simulated. Real data (SEC, ECB) always shows its source and date.
Score
- Money knowledge — You used the right idea (risk, diversification, P/E, fees, inflation…).
- Risk & diversification — You balanced risk and didn't put all your eggs in one basket.
- Think first & stay safe — You took your time, spotted traps and knew when to ask a trusted adult.
Real world
Real world: the tulip trade peaked and collapsed in February 1637. Historian Anne Goldgar (Tulipmania, 2007) showed the damage to the Dutch economy was much smaller than legend says, so it's also a lesson in checking famous stories.
