English, Year 3 (Portugal): Fill in a simple form with your details and answer a short message, with capital letters where English needs them.
A form asks for small details
A form has labels and empty lines. Example: “First name”: Ana. “Surname” (family name): Silva. “Age”: 8. “Country”: Portugal. Read each label and write only what it asks, often one word or a number. A form can be on paper or online. A message works the same way, with a few more words: “Hi Sam! I'm Ana.”
Why forms and messages
Forms and messages help you meet people when you cannot talk: a class exchange with a pen friend, a school club, a message in a class chat. A short, clear answer is polite and easy to read. “Hi!” at the start and “Bye!” at the end make a message friendly. Online, never write your address or phone number without a grown-up.
A form and a reply, step by step
Task: fill in a form, then answer a message. Step 1, the form: First name: Ana · Age: 8 · Country: Portugal (one word or number per line). Step 2: Sam writes: “Hi Ana! How are you?” Step 3: start with the name: “Hi Sam!” Step 4: answer: “I'm fine, thank you.” Step 5: end: “Bye, Ana.”
Big letters in English
In English, “I” is always a capital letter: “I'm from Portugal”, never “i'm”. Names, countries and languages start with a capital letter too: Ana, Portugal, Portuguese. Some languages write “I” (eu, yo, je, io) and words like “Portuguese” with a small letter, but English does not. Check your capital letters before you send.
Where you will use it
You use forms and messages when you join a club, write to a pen friend or answer a class chat, and, with a grown-up, when you register for a game or a website. Keep it short: a greeting, your answer, a goodbye. Ask a grown-up to check what you write before you send it online.
