A story that keeps growing — Story Desk · Free Press
A water pipe burst under Brightwater's main square this morning. The story will not be finished today: it will change over the next week.
Your task
Put the reports in the order a careful newsroom would publish them.
- A 'developing story' is updated as new facts are confirmed. Each update says what is new and when it was added.
- Invented newsrooms and stories to learn from, not real news. Before sharing anything about real people, ask a trusted adult.
- Never share private details of anyone. Nothing about you is collected.
Score
- How news works — You understood how this part of journalism works.
- Truth & accuracy — You checked the facts before telling them.
- Fair & kind — You were fair to the people in the story.
In real life
Many news websites add the time to each update and keep a note when an earlier detail turns out to be wrong.
