What can we learn?
- A parliament is where the people a country elects make its laws. About half of all people are women, so a fair share of seats would be close to 50%.
- In 1997 Sweden led with about 40%. Rwanda has led since 2003 and today women hold more than six in ten of its seats.
- Many countries use quotas: rules that keep seats or candidate places for women. In some places they changed the numbers quickly.
