What can we learn?
- This counts fish, shellfish and other water animals caught in the wild, in seas, rivers and lakes. Fish raised on farms are not included.
- Peru jumps up and down because of a tiny fish, the anchovy, whose numbers change a lot when the ocean water gets warmer.
- Fish are a living resource: if too many are caught, there are fewer left to have babies, so countries set limits on fishing.
