The First Flight

Nes's paper planes keep nose-diving when the star-door opens onto a windy beach in December 1903. Two brothers from a bicycle shop are adjusting a strange machine of cloth and wood, and the sisters watch it leave the ground for twelve seconds, the first powered flight ever. Then Nes learns why her own plane falls, and makes it fly.
